Coromandel screens have been the specialty of Ateliers since 1920. Over time, we have acquired an important collection that we continue to enrich.
These magnificent and grandiose objects are among the finest examples of the mastery of Chinese lacquer craftsmen. Coromandel screens appear in the XNUMXth century and are offered as gifts to the Chinese aristocracy. European merchants very quickly discovered these works and began to export them. These objects then become prized by European courts and used by the nobility to decorate their homes or re-used by cabinet makers in the manufacture of furniture.
You will find in this collection a wide variety of decors and styles, from palace scenes to the paradises of immortals, passing by the hundred birds or the gardens of scholars.
